This article will be modified during the night. Boston night of the election. Weirdly warm outside .Many people are still wearing summer clothes for a day where usually over the year it has seen a least 20 to 30 degrees less. Meet L my first rider of the night is with a friend, L unlike is name could indicate is asian. We quickly start a conversation and the subject of the election comes. L isn’t register I scold him a little jokingly because of the importance of the election in my mind. But he doesn’t seem to be interested by the subject.

My Second rider is way more concerned by the elections.I pickup J at the train station in Back Bay and we need to arrive before 8pm at the poll station.J is stressed and he wants me to run the lights.I am thinking « Maybe you should have left work early and not blame it on me!!! ».But I keep that to me and we go on our mary way.The drive is stressful 18minutues to get to Quincy before the poll closes. No sound in the car only the window open on the highway is making some noise.

7:51pm

We are in view of the school and now it is time to find the entrance. It is the wrong door and I wait for my rider the right one. I take him back and we go around the building. Here is the sign that points to entrance to go to vote.He made it . Things are not starting well for my candidate!

Time flies and my passengers are with their headphones and not in the mood for conversations about the elections. I just looked at my phone and Elon Musk just announced victory of his candidate in a tweet. The race is not yet over as usual the first accurate count won’t be finieshed until tomorrow. He is practising misinformation as usual…

My next passenger is a librarian. He had to finish late today because of the election.I ask him a few questions. How was the turnout?. « Very good he says. » and when did your day start? « Well I started around 5am this am .I am exhausted? ». And then the conversation started as is starts usually and in the 5 minutes we are together we talked about many subjects. The rappers like P-diddy,the elections of course and life in general. One thing that I will keep with me is that phrase from him. » Have you ever seen a uhaul at a funeral? it’s because you’re not taking anything with you ».

22:15pm

I pick up my next passenger not far I left the last one.She is from Haiti.Haitian people are very recognizable by their accents.I ask her if she is from Haiti and we start talking. She is surprised by the rise of a rich man multi convicted. For her the racism is very persistent in America. We complain about the lack of application of the law and endup the conversation saying that if anybody else than a Rich guy would have done anything like Trump did he would be in prison by now.I am not watching the results anymore!

It seems more and more likely that what I fear for is going to happen. I started watching the results again. I had a rude passenger cancel on me because he didn’t want to respect the rules and thought he was entitled to a different treatment. That happens. My next passenger was following the news and told me that Harris is more likely to loose the key states that she should not loose to win that race.Well that makes me sad.I am picking up my next passenger but I am playing some Karol G playlist from spotify. She is singing in the back on all the songs this is a bit comforting.

This is the state of things at midnight
